Warning!

Make sure any suggested plan comes from a reputable source. There are lots of personal blogs/websites who market their holistic therapies, supplements and meal plans to the diabetic community.  They are basically preying upon people’s fears of dying and wanting to get healthy.  If you have any questions about a particular advertisement, meal plan, or treatment please consult with your doctor or a medical professional.  I would also suggest going to some of the diabetic community website and blogs and inquire about any experiences.  Sometimes other diabetics know more about the current trends and fads before the doctors do.  Just contact me. I am always happy to help!

When you purchase food inspect the labels critically.  Manufacturers are very savvy with how they word food labels to disguise or twist the meaning of their ingredients.  Do not get fooled by foods that are suppose to be “healthy” or for dieters like “nutrition bars.”  These items though they claim to be nature or organic may also contain a large amounts of sugar.  If it didn’t it would taste like cardboard.

Terms like “organic” and “natural” as it is applied toward foods can be morphed into what ever meaning the manufacturer may want to use. So buyer beware. Certified organic is a government regulated word so manufacturers have to meet certain guidelines to be labeled “certified organic.”  Natural is not a controlled item.  So the buyer will have to trust the reputation of the manufacturer to ensure the product mets the label claim.  Scary!
