D-Twitter Hashtags

Diabetics love social media and Twitter. It is a great way to meet others domestically and internationally too chat about Diabetes! Now I will say that most of the diabetic social media folks are Type 1 diabetics. Type 2 diabetics are slowly getting around to using social media and Twitter. Most are stuck on Facebook. If you are not familiar with Twitter or Facebook then I would strongly recommend that you do. It is very easy. There are several websites and Youtube videos that can offer the latest tutorials for Twitter.
The best thing for Twitter is to use a 3rd party application like Hootsuite (what I use) or TweetDeck (an Adobe product).
Twitter by itself can be confusing. I like Hootsuite because you can use it on different computers. Both are free to download and they can make your Twitter experience much easier and more organized. Either application will allow you several columns so you can see what is happening to your account and to others. You will one column that will show your on tweets. Then you may have a column for every time you are mentioned. You can a column for #diabetes or any other hashtag of interest. You can also time a tweet to be sent at a later date. I am sure get the point.
Hashtags (#)
The best way to get in contact with diabetics on twitter is by using hashtags (#). Hashag is the number sign on the number 3 key on the keyboard. At the end of your comment, put “#” in front of any word or phrase. Your tweet will be posted on your own Twitter roll and on a listing by the same name of the hashtag that you used. I hope this doesn’t sound too confusing.
